Air TransportAerolíneas Argentinas announced on November 27 a US$65 million investment to add 18 new aircraft to its fleet, including the Boeing 737 MAX 9, MAX 10, and Airbus A330neo for the first time. The aircraft will be acquired through operating leases and are intended to support the airline’s modernization strategy.
The plan represents the first major fleet renewal for the state-owned airline financed entirely with its own resources. The airline has posted consecutive losses, but is undergoing a process of efficiency management after a privatization attempt failed to materialize.
The order comprises 14 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, specifically two MAX 8, four MAX 9, and eight MAX 10 units, and four Airbus A330neo aircraft, the version of which has not yet been revealed.

The airline expects the introduction of these models to advance efficiency in both domestic and international operations.
Aerolíneas Argentinas will not receive any Treasury contributions in 2025, a first since the government regained control of the company.
Between 2008 and 2023, the carrier posted average annual losses of $400 million, but reported a positive operational result of $56.6 million in 2024.
“With this milestone, Aerolíneas Argentinas confirms it has become a company with investment capacity and growth using its own resources,” said Fabián Lombardo, president and CEO of Aerolíneas Argentinas. He added, “This plan means a capitalization of the company through securing orders for 18 aircraft.”

Installation of onboard Wi-Fi connectivity is also planned to begin in 2027, first on the widebody A330ceo and later on the Boeing 737 and Embraer E190.
Aerolíneas Argentinas has a fleet of 83 aircraft, consisting of 10 Airbus A330-200ceo, 15 Boeing 737 MAX 8, 28 Boeing 737-800, 4 Boeing 737-700, 24 Embraer E190, and 2 Boeing 737-800 freighters. This number includes the arrival of a MAX 8 in the coming days.
