Air Algérie has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-900 on November 14 in Toulouse, France. The aircraft is the initial unit in a planned fleet of eight A330neo jets for the Algerian flag carrier.

This delivery represents a significant phase in Air Algérie’s long-haul fleet modernization and extends a longstanding relationship with Airbus. The carrier plans to use the A330neo to open new transatlantic and Asian routes.

Once all eight units are in operation, Air Algérie will become the largest A330neo operator in Africa. The aircraft features a three-class configuration with 18 seats in Business, 24 in Premium Economy, and 266 in Economy.

The A330neo incorporates the Airspace cabin, offering increased passenger space and updated entertainment and connectivity systems. The aircraft is capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel, supporting Airbus’ ambition for 100% SAF capability by 2030, according to Airbus.

Air Algérie intends to develop its maintenance infrastructure and establish a training center for the A330neo, positioning itself as a regional hub for this model. The airline currently operates a fleet that includes eight A330-200s and 32 Boeing 737-family aircraft.

As of the end of October, the A330 family had accumulated more than 1,900 firm orders from over 130 customers worldwide. The addition of the A330neo is expected to support Air Algérie’s network growth and operational efficiency in the medium term.
