Air TransportAir China Cargo intends to order up to 10 Airbus A350F freighters, with deliveries planned between 2029 and 2031. The company disclosed the potential acquisition in a statement to the stock exchange this week, according to AirInsight.
The proposed order is part of Air China Cargo’s strategy to increase its market share in the air freight sector. The deal comprises six firm aircraft and four options, totaling $4.65 billion at list prices.
According to Air China Cargo, negotiations with Airbus resulted in a significant price discount. The agreement is subject to approval by shareholders at a meeting scheduled for 14 November.

The core of Air China Cargo’s fleet is made up of 13 Boeing 777Fs, plus three 747-400Fs and six A330-200 freighters.
Airbus has accumulated 65 orders for the A350F as of 30 September, with customers including Air France, AviLease, and Cathay Pacific. The aircraft is positioned to address demand for new-generation large freighters.
The entry into service of the A350F is now expected in the second half of 2027 due to supplier-related delays.
