Air TransportAir China will commence scheduled services using the COMAC C919 between Beijing and Hong Kong starting 7 November, with additional flights planned through 9 November and regular service beginning 11 November.
This move makes Air China the second carrier to operate the domestically produced C919 on Hong Kong routes, following China Eastern Airlines. The introduction underscores the C919’s expanding role in China’s mainline fleet.
The initial service includes flights CA101/102 between Beijing and Hong Kong, while a one-off Tianjin–Hong Kong rotation (CA103/104) is scheduled for 9 November., according to Aero Routes.

Currently, 24 C919 aircraft are in commercial operation, including one operated by COMAC Express. China Eastern Airlines leads with 11 units, China Southern Airlines has seven, and Air China has five in its fleet.
As of October 2025, only eight C919 units have been delivered for the year, reflecting ongoing production constraints. Challenges in sourcing Western-made components, particularly Leap-1C engines, have contributed to the slow delivery pace.
Industry observers attribute these supply chain issues in part to the ongoing trade tensions between the US and China. The impact continues to shape the growth trajectory of the C919 program.
