Air Europa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for the acquisition of up to 40 A350-900 aircraft during the Dubai Airshow.

The agreement is intended to facilitate the replacement of Air Europa’s current long-haul fleet, which is comprised exclusively of Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Air Europa operates a total Boeing fleet of 61 aircraft, including 30 737 narrowbodies and 31 787s in both the 787-8 and 787-9 variants.

The Airbus A350-900 offers greater passenger capacity compared to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, aligning with Air Europa’s ambitions to optimize its long-haul operations.

The annoucement emerges after Turkish Airlines has recently acquired a minority stake in Air Europa. The Turkish flag carrier also operates the A350, potentially enabling operational synergies between the two airlines.

Air Europa has a flight network focused on tourism in both Europe and North and South America.
