Air France has started offering free high-speed Wi-Fi on selected aircraft, becoming the first major European airline to introduce complimentary internet access across all cabins. The service is already operational on five aircraft and is set to expand in the coming years.

The new onboard connectivity is accessible to passengers in all classes via their Flying Blue account, allowing the use of smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Multiple devices can be connected simultaneously during the flight, enabling passengers to communicate, access news, stream content, and play online games.

Currently, five aircraft are equipped with the high-speed internet system: two Embraer E190s and two Airbus A220s, as well as one additional aircraft.

The Airbus A350 will be the first long-haul model in the fleet to receive the technology. Air France expects to have 30% of its fleet equipped by the end of 2025, reaching full coverage by the end of 2026.

The connectivity is provided through a partnership with Starlink, which uses a network of low Earth orbit satellites to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet. During the transition phase, passengers on aircraft not yet equipped with the new system will continue to have access to an alternative connection, with a free pass available and a paid option for higher speeds.
