Air TransportAirbus celebrated the delivery of the 100th A220 assembled at its Mobile plant in the United States on July 15th.
The milestone comes five years after the start of final assembly of the aircraft’s rival to the Embraer E2.
The 100th jet was delivered to Breeze Airways, a budget airline founded by David Neeleman, also the founder of Azul Linhas Aéreas, among others.
The A220-300, registration N251BZ, is the 44th to join Breeze, which is in the midst of a transition to an all-Airbus fleet once its eleven Embraer E190s are retired.
The Mobile plant has accounted for approximately one in four A220s delivered so far. The rest were completed in Montreal, Canada, where the family was first introduced as the C Series by Bombardier.

Airbus Mobile began operations in 2015 in Alabama, initially to house a final assembly line (FAL) for the A320 family for the planemaker’s North American customers.
Since May 2020, the facility has also been producing the A220, as a way for Airbus to reaffirm its investment in the country, where it experiences strong demand but strong resistance due to Boeing.
The Trump administration has threatened to impose heavy tariffs on goods produced in Europe, and Mobile could play an important role in minimizing the impact of these additional costs on its aircraft.
