Air TransportAirbus delivered its Chinese 800th A320 family aircraft, at its Tianjin facility on Wednesday. The aircraft is an A321neo ordered by Air China.
According to Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury, the strengthened industrial footprint in China reflects the company’s commitment to the market.
The Tianjin site, which produces A319, A320, and A321 models, is Airbus’s first final assembly facility outside Europe and now accounts for 20% of the manufacturer’s global A320 output.
Since the first A320 was delivered from Tianjin in 2009, the site has steadily increased production, reaching the 500th and 700th aircraft milestones in October 2020 and July 2024, respectively.

Airbus currently operates ten final assembly lines for the A320 family worldwide, split between Germany, France, the United States, and China.
Airbus forecasts that annual passenger volumes in China will grow at an average rate of 5.3% over the next two decades, outpacing the projected global average of 3.6%. The company expects its expanded Chinese facilities to play a key role in meeting this rising demand.
In October, Airbus opened a second A320neo family assembly line in Tianjin as part of a global ramp-up strategy targeting 75 single-aisle deliveries per month by 2027. The expansion comes amid continued trade tensions between China and the United States, positioning Airbus to maintain flexibility in its supply chain and production capabilities.
