Airbus recognizes order for six A320neo family jets by Berniq Airways
Libyan airline Berniq Airways repeated the same pose for the photo with its CEO, Waseem Ezzway, and Airbus’ executive vice-president of sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, to announce an order for six A320neo family jets in Farnborough.
The two executives had met in May at Airbus headquarters in Toulouse when Berniq revealed the order. But the planemaker had not recognized the agreement until this Tuesday.
It has now become official that the Benghazi-based carrier will receive the six planes that could include the A321neo model. The two companies did not open details of the deal or when the planes will arrive.
Berniq has been flying since 2021 and maintains a fleet of six A320ceo with 12 to 14 years in service. Plans are to expand its operations beyond perhaps replacing some of the older aircraft.
Operating in a country in civil war since 2011, when dictator Muammar Gaddafi was killed, the airline serves domestic and international destinations in countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
