Air TransportThe French government has authorized Airbus to expand its Toulouse industrial site by 18 hectares (180,000 square meters), with work already begin across the Colomiers, Cornebarrieu, and Lagardère locations.
The approval, granted on October 19 allows the manufacturer to proceed with infrastructure growth aimed at supporting increased aircraft production through 2028.
This decision represents an exception to the 2021 Climat et Résilience law, which targets zero net land artificialization in France. The exemption was justified by the project’s designation as being of national interest, highlighting its strategic significance for the French aerospace sector.
Airbus aims to ramp up A320 family deliveries to 75 aircraft per month by 2027 and plans to stabilize A330 output at four per month, with the potential to reach five units monthly by 2029.
The expansion includes construction of a second delivery center, new paint and storage hangars, and modernization of assembly lines.
According to Christophe Agostini, director of Airbus commercial aircraft site, the investments will generate activity for Airbus’s partners and the broader supply chain.
