American Airlines has announced the allocation of 78 new Embraer E175 jets to two of its regional subsidiaries: Piedmont Airlines and Envoy Air. Operating under the American Eagle brand, Piedmont will receive 45 aircraft, while Envoy will take 33.
These E175s are part of a larger fleet order placed by American last year. They are configured to carry 76 passengers in two classes, 12 seats in business class and 64 in the main cabin, the limit set by the scope clause for U.S. airlines and their pilots.
Piedmont Airlines, headquartered in Maryland, will begin receiving its aircraft in the first quarter of 2028, with 1 to 2 deliveries per month over 36 months. The jets will include high-speed satellite Wi-Fi and power outlets at every seat.
“Our more than 11,000 team members are the driving force behind everything we achieve. More space, more comfort and more style, delivered by the best team in the business,” said Piedmont CEO Eric Morgan.

Piedmont will continue operating its current fleet of 93 ERJ 145 jets, which helped earn the airline the title of most reliable E145 operator in the world in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Envoy Air will receive its 33 new E175s between 2026 and 2027, adding to its current E175 deliveries already scheduled for 2025. By the end of 2027, the airline will operate 171 E175s and 43 E170s.
“This milestone reflects the dedication and hard work of our more than 21,000 employees across North America and the Caribbean,” said Envoy CEO Pedro Fábregas. “Envoy continues to grow strategically and sustainably.”
