Angola has taken delivery of two Airbus C295 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft, following a firm order placed in April 2022. The handover expands the country’s air capabilities with specialized platforms for maritime operations.

The aircraft are expected to support a range of missions, including search and rescue (SAR), monitoring of illegal fishing and border control, maritime traffic management, and intelligence gathering. Angola’s procurement is part of a broader effort to enhance national security and resource protection.

The order comprised three C295s, with two configured for maritime surveillance and one for transport duties. All three aircraft will feature the latest Pro Line Fusion avionics suite from Collins Aerospace.

The maritime surveillance variants are equipped with Airbus’s Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS) and advanced sensor packages. These systems are designed to enable real-time mission management and situational awareness.

With this acquisition, Angola becomes the 38th operator of the C295 worldwide. Across Africa, 54 C295 aircraft have been ordered by 11 different air forces, according to Airbus.
