The expansion of the flight network of the new airline Arajet has taken another step forward with the opening of sales for its new route to New York (Newark), with flights starting on June 16.

The Dominican Republic’s flag carrier has only been in operation for three years, but its growth has attracted attention, with flights to destinations in Latin America as well as Florida and Canada.

The route to New York, however, is a milestone for the airline created by Victor Pacheco Méndez, current CEO, and Mike Powell, since the metropolitan region of the US city has the largest Dominican community in the world.

“Arajet is committed to making air travel accessible and affordable for the Dominican community and American tourists alike, and New York is a key market to strengthen our U.S. presence,” said Pacheco.

“The Newark service will complement routes between the DR, Miami, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, to establish Arajet as a carrier of choice for U.S. travelers booking vacations and getaways as well as visiting friends and family. We look forward to welcoming travelers with the convenience, affordability, and exceptional service Arajet is known for.”

According to Arajet, it will be possible to fly to 24 other cities from Newark Airport.

Flights will be operated four times a week with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Departure from the Dominican Republic is at 6:18 a.m. and arrival in New York at 10:30 a.m. (local time).

The return flight is at 12:00 p.m. and landing in Santo Domingo at 4:30 p.m., also local time – the flight time is just over 4 hours.
