ATR has signed its largest aircraft order since 2017 by signing a new agreement with Taiwan’s regional airline UNI Air for 19 ATR 72-600 turboprops.
The company, which is part of the EVA Air group, has been operating the turboprop since 2011, when it placed an order for 10 aircraft. There are currently 14 of the aircraft in service and they will be replaced by the new fleet between 2027 and 2032.
Uni Air also plans to expand its services with the five additional ATR 72-600s.
Although they are replacements for aircraft of the same variant, the new ATR 72-600s incorporate upgrades such as the more efficient PW127XT engine, a modernized cockpit design and other optimized systems.
The regional airline operates a network from Taipei Songshan Airport to 11 destinations, including the islands of Kinmen, Penghu and Matsu, and serves as a feeder for EVA Air flights.
“This marks a major step in UNI Air’s strategy to enhance domestic air services, playing a vital role in boosting Taiwan’s dynamism at local, national and regional levels,” said Solomon Lin, Chairman of UNI Air.
The Italian-French manufacturer has received 56 firm orders for 2024.
