Austrian Airlines has started transferring 13 Embraer E195 aircraft to its Italian carrier Air Dolomiti, both part of Lufthansa Group.

The move follows Austrian Airlines’ decision three months ago to phase out Embraer E195 operations as part of a broader fleet modernization strategy. The carrier will now focus on operating Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

Air Dolomiti CEO Steffen Harbarth stated that the company will expand its fleet to meet rising demand. The first aircraft transferred, registration OE-LWM, had served Austrian Airlines for over nine years.

With the addition of the E195s, Air Dolomiti’s fleet will grow from 26 to 30 aircraft. The full transfer is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.

Air Dolomiti currently serves 50 destinations across 15 countries and aims to carry approximately four million passengers by year-end.

Air Dolomiti’s fleet consisted of Embraer 190 and Embraer 195 models. The airline is expanding its fleet to reinforce its market position in Italy.

Air Dolomiti has previously operated other aircraft types, such as the ATR 72-500, before consolidating its current Embraer fleet.
