Air TransportAvianca resumed daily nonstop flights between Caracas and Bogotá on Thursday, February 12, restoring regular service between the Venezuelan and Colombian capitals after months of limited international connectivity.
Flight AV143 departed from Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía bound for Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport, marking the formal return of the route. The return service, AV142, departs Bogotá at 7:40 a.m. and arrives in Caracas at 10:40 a.m., while the Caracas–Bogotá leg leaves at 12:10 p.m., arriving at 1:15 p.m., local Colombian time.
The airline said the restart followed a comprehensive assessment of operational and aviation safety conditions conducted in coordination with relevant authorities.
With the resumption, Caracas is once again integrated into Avianca’s network of more than 83 destinations in 28 countries. The carrier said it has operated between Colombia and Venezuela for more than six decades and transported over 115,000 passengers on the route in the two most recent years prior to its suspension.
“We are very proud to resume the Bogotá–Caracas route, reconnecting Colombia and Venezuela after more than six decades of shared history. As one of the first international airlines to do so — now with daily flights — we reaffirm our commitment to serving as the bridge in Colombia and Latin America that connects people, stories and opportunities,” said Gabriel Oliva, president of Avianca Group.

The restart comes as Venezuela undergoes a normalization process in its international relations following the capture of Nicolás Maduro by U.S. military forces in January. Since then, airlines including LATAM, American Airlines, Iberia and Air Europa have indicated plans to restore services to the country, signaling a gradual reopening of Venezuela’s international aviation market.
Among foreign carriers, Copa Airlines had already resumed operations to Venezuela on January 16. The airline currently operates two daily flights between Panama City and Caracas, in addition to a daily service between Panama City and Maracaibo.
