Avianca to resume daily Bogotá–Caracas flights

Route returns in February amid gradual reopening of Venezuela’s international air links

Avianca said it will resume direct flights between Bogotá and Caracas starting Feb. 12, with daily service. The decision follows an assessment of operational conditions and aviation safety carried out in coordination with relevant authorities.

The airline plans two daily flights, with departures from Bogotá at 07:40 and 12:10 and return services from Caracas at 10:40 and 13:15, all times local to Colombia. Tickets are already available through the carrier’s sales channels.

The restart of air services between Colombia and Venezuela comes as operations in the neighboring country move toward normalization after the capture of Nicolás Maduro in early January by U.S. military forces. Since then, authorities and airlines have begun reviewing restrictions and conditions for the return of international flights.

One indication of this shift is American Airlines’ announcement that it intends to resume flights to Caracas, subject to regulatory approvals. The plan would mark a potential return of U.S. carriers to the Venezuelan market after years of suspended operations.

Avianca said it has operated in Venezuela for more than six decades. The Bogotá–Caracas route restores a direct connection that was interrupted at the end of 2025 following the closure of regional airspace.
