Boeing announced order for 45 737 MAX jets placed by SunExpress
Boeing opened the first day of the Dubai Airshow with a major purchase announcement from Turkish airline SunExpress. The carrier, which is a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, has ordered 45 737 MAX jets in addition to 45 purchase options.
The order includes 28 737-8s and 17 737-10s that will be used in its direct flight network to tourist destinations.
“Building on the resounding success of our strategy in the post-pandemic period, SunExpress is now positioned for next-level growth to meet market demand and achieve a greater international footprint,” said Max Kownatzki, SunExpress CEO.
Over the next decade, we will more than double our fleet, reaching a 150-aircraft fleet by 2033. Also, the addition of the 737-10, the newest 737 MAX plane with up to 230 seats, so our fleet will allow us to strengthen our capacity further.
SunExpress already had a previous order for 42 737 MAX 8 jets, of which eight aircraft have been delivered to date.
