Boeing has completed the conversion of the 150th 737-800NG to cargo under the Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) program, the company announced on October 6.

The 150th aircraft had its conversion completed at the STAECO (Taikoo Shandong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited) facility in Jinan (TNA), China.

In the last 12 months alone, Boeing has delivered 50 converted freighters, confirming the growing demand for the model.

The 737-800BCF program launched in 2016 with an order from AerCap. Boeing carries out the conversion in four locations, in Canada, Costa Rica, the United Kingdom and China, but is expanding the units capable of performing the service.

The conversion process was shown in a video released by Boeing on Friday. It is possible to follow the phases of the work, which includes removing the aircraft's interior finish, installing floor reinforcement, a front cargo door and pallet and container retention devices, among others.

The Boeing 737-800BCF can carry up to 23.9 tons of cargo and fly up to 2,025 nautical miles (3,750 km)

According to the company, the 737-800BCF fleet performed around 125 thousand flights, accumulating 300 thousand hours in the air. The model is operated by more than 40 customers, Boeing added.
