Bolivian carrier Amaszonas renews air operator certificate after nearly bankruptcy
The Bolivian airline Amaszonas announced the renewal of its air operator certificate after almost going bankrupt. The company was taken over by Nella Airlines, which began a process of financial restructuring.
According to the company, the name of the carrier should be changed to Nella Airlines Bolivia soon.
The aircraft fleet, currently made up of Embraer E190 and CRJ-200 jets, in addition to two Dash 8 turboprops, will be another turning point.
By the beginning of 2023, the airline will have the Boeing 737-800, with 189 seats, which will replace the E-Jets, with 110 seats. The company also intends to receive two 737 freighters.
“The objective now is to strengthen the international routes to Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Peru and Paraguay in the passenger segment”, stated the company's CEO, Mauricio Souza.
Currently, the company flies domestically in Bolivia, but serves Iquique, Chile, and Asunción, Paraguay. Amaszonas, however, aims to resume flights to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Foz do Iguaçu, in Brazil, as well as destinations in Peru and Argentina.
