HelicoptersSikorsky, along with CHC Helicopter’s MRO division Heli-One and Milestone Aviation, has announced the creation of a new Center of Excellence dedicated to the S-92 helicopter fleet in Brazil.
Based in Rio de Janeiro, the new center will focus on enhancing operational readiness and fleet availability, especially for critical missions such as search and rescue. The initiative will be led by Heli-One and aims to leverage the technical expertise of all three companies to deliver integrated support services and local maintenance solutions.
“We are committed to delivering rigorous and dependable capabilities that ensure the continued success of the S-92 helicopter,” said Leon Silva, VP at Sikorsky. “This partnership brings together the best of our industry to extend fleet longevity and mission readiness.”
With more than 30 S-92 helicopters flying in Brazil, the country already hosts a local Forward Stocking Location in Rio, supporting major operators such as CHC Helicopter, Lider Aviation, and Omni Helicopters International. The S-92 is certified by Brazil’s aviation agency (ANAC) for offshore transport, search and rescue, regional airline service, and VIP missions.
“As more operators choose the S-92, the time is right for this center,” said Tom Burke, CEO of CHC Helicopter Group. “We will deliver more integrated and efficient services to ensure the fleet’s maximum availability across the region.”
The new initiative also reflects Sikorsky’s long-standing commitment to Brazil, where it has supported aerospace and defense priorities for over five decades. Future collaboration opportunities are already being explored to further enhance regional capabilities.
