The Canadian government has placed an order with Bombardier for six Global 6500 aircraft modified for military use, with deliveries beginning in the summer of 2027.

The acquisition addresses the need for aircraft capable of multirole operations, including global utility flights, aeromedical evacuation, humanitarian assistance, and national security support.

The Global 6500 aircraft is a world-class, made-in-Canada product with the versatility to perform multiple missions, making it the go-to solution for governments around the world,” said Éric Martel, President and CEO of Bombardier.

The jets will be assembled in the Greater Toronto area with final completion in Montreal, supporting more than 2,000 workers across both sites.

Potential mission profiles include intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), as well as airborne early warning and control (AEW&C).

The award of this contract to purchase the Global 6500 under the Defence Investment Agency is a turning point in how Canada equips its military,” stated Stephen Fuhr, Secretary of State for Defense Procurement.

The total value of the ACP-MFS project stands at C$2.05 billion, encompassing procurement and ongoing support for the aircraft as Canada modernizes its fleet for evolving mission requirements.
