CDB Aviation delivered the second of two Airbus A320neo to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) on October 9, at Blagnac, France.

This delivery is part of AZAL’s ongoing fleet modernization, replacing older A320 and A319 models with newer, more efficient aircraft.

The latest A320neo is equipped with CFM LEAP-1engines, differing from previous AZAL A320neos that use Pratt & Whitney GTF engines.

The leasing agreement for these aircraft was announced in June 2024, supporting AZAL’s efforts to update its narrowbody fleet.

AZAL placed a firm order with Airbus for 12 A320neo family jets in 2023, with the first aircraft, registered as VP-BAK, delivered in September.

The Azerbaijan national carrier currently operates three other A320neo aircraft with Pratt & Whitney engines, two of which are grounded.
