Business AviationTextron Aviation obtained FAA type certification for the Cessna Citation Ascend on November 5, allowing deliveries to begin later this year in the United States.
The certification process involved over 1,000 flight hours and tests conducted on two prototypes, validating the new cockpit and performance enhancements incorporated into the model.
“The successful flight test program of the Citation Ascend reflects the experience of our teams in obtaining FAA certification while designing and delivering the best aviation experience for our customers,” said Chris Hearne, senior vice president of Engineering and Programs.

The Citation Ascend uses Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545D engines, which provide gains in fuel efficiency and greater thrust, characteristics valued in the midsize executive jet segment.
With a maximum speed of 441 ktas (817 km/h) and a range of 1,940 nm (3,593 km), the aircraft accommodates up to 12 passengers and includes an advanced acoustic system for noise reduction in the cabin.
Onboard connectivity is served by 19 standard USB ports, three universal outlets, and wireless charging, in addition to standard GoGo U.S. Avance L3 Max Wi-Fi, with an upgrade option to Avance L5.
The Citation Ascend is positioned in a niche between the Embraer Phenom 300E, with similar range and capacity but a smaller cabin, and the more expensive Praetor 500 with superior range. Its list price is estimated to be around $16.7 million.
