Textron Aviation delivered the first Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen2 jets to Dave Mecartney and Shannon Day on January 8 in Wichita, following the aircraft’s entry into service. Both customers are longstanding Citation owners.

The CJ3 Gen2, certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in October, introduces Garmin autothrottle, an expanded cockpit with 4.5 inches of additional pilot legroom, and a fully customizable luxury cabin for up to 10 occupants. The aircraft features a maximum range of 2,040 nautical miles and a maximum payload of 2,135 lbs.

“The Citation CJ3 Gen2 delivers an unmatched experience from day one—thanks to its exceptional range, payload and efficiency, combined with new productivity and comfort features,” said Lannie O’Bannion, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing at Textron Aviation.

The interior includes externally serviceable lavatory facilities and offers flexible configurations for passenger comfort. The introduction of Garmin autothrottle is designed to enhance operational efficiency and pilot workload management.

“After extensive consideration of the competition, there was no equal for handling, service and support, training and reliability in the entry level jet category than the CJ3 Gen2,” said Shannon Day, aircraft owner.

Dave Mecartney, who has owned Citation aircraft since 2007, noted, “As a Cessna Citation owner since 2007, the brand has consistently earned my trust with a proven heritage, superior reliability and one of the strongest service and support networks in the industry.”
