Air TransportMonths after signing deals for new long-haul aircraft, China Airlines has announced plans to add 13 more aircraft to its fleet, all from Airbus.
According to a statement, the Taiwanese carrier will introduce five A350-900s and eight A321neos through leasing and acquisition.
Five of the narrow-body jets will be leased from Air Lease for US$240 million, while the remaining aircraft are still under negotiation.
The five A350-900s will cost no more than US$1.965 billion, but details of the deal were not disclosed.

With a fleet of 85 aircraft, China Airlines recently closed deals for 14 Boeing 777Xs (ten 777-9 passenger aircraft and four 777-8F freighters) and ten A350-1000s.
The long-haul aircraft are expected to replace the 777-300ERs and A330-300s currently in service.
The company also has an order for 24 Boeing 787s (18 787-9s and six 787-10s), deliveries of which have yet to begin.
