Dassault Aviation has completed assembly of the 300th Rafale fighter jet, marking a significant milestone for the French aerospace manufacturer. The milestone comes as the company faces a growing backlog of orders, with 533 aircraft contracted and 233 units yet to be delivered.

The Rafale program currently involves a network of 400 French companies, supporting domestic and international production demands, according to the company. Dassault has announced plans to increase the Rafale’s production rate to four aircraft per month to address growing export orders and delivery timelines.

The first Rafale deliveries began in December 2000, when the Rafale M variant was handed over to the French Navy. The Flottille 12F squadron was the initial operator, introducing the aircraft into service in May 2001 and participating in early carrier operations exercises.

The Rafale entered operational service with the French Navy in June 2004 and subsequently with the French Air Force in 2006. The platform was introduced to the international market in 2015, leading to export contracts with eight countries, including Egypt, India, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Rafale is designed for use by both the French Air Force and Navy, offering multi-role capability. Its adoption by several foreign militaries has contributed to Dassault’s growing order book, reinforcing the program’s significance within the global fighter aircraft market.
