Delta Air Lines has started flying between Atlanta and Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the Airbus A330-900, one of its newest widebodies.

Until now, the Argentine capital was served by the Boeing 767-400, a rare large-capacity variant of the aircraft.

Compared to the 767, the A330neo has 20% more capacity and offers more comfortable service classes. There are 281 seats available, 29 in Business, 29 in Delta Premium Select and 224 in Economy, of which 56 are Delta Comfort+.

In addition to the daily flight to the airline’s U.S. hub, Delta has also added the A330-900 to its seasonal route to New York (JFK) with daily frequency.

“We are incredibly excited to introduce the Airbus A330-900neo to our operations in Argentina,” said Agustín Durand, General Sales Manager for Delta in Argentina, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Equipment replacement in South America

After a long period of flying older aircraft such as the Boeing 767 and the first-generation Airbus A330, Delta has recently started replacing these aircraft.

São Paulo, its main destination in South America, has been receiving the A330-900 on two daily flights to Atlanta since mid-2024.

New York and Boston, on the other hand, continue to operate with A330-300 jets and the Boeing 767 in its various versions.

Santiago, Chile is the only city served by the Airbus A350-900, while Rio de Janeiro is operated by the A330-300 from Atlanta and the Boeing 767-300 from New York (seasonal).

Delta currently has a fleet of 32 Airbus A330-900s.
