Delta CRJ-900 jet flips upside down after landing in Toronto
A Delta Airlines MRJ (Bombardier) CRJ-900 jet crashed while landing at Pearson International Airport in Toronto on Monday.
The aircraft lost part of its wings and tail when it hit the runway and flipped over, coming to a stop upside down. Passengers and crew managed to evacuate the aircraft, but 15 people were injured.
Videos show people evacuating through emergency windows in snow-covered runway. At least three of the occupants were in critical condition.
Flight DL 4819 had departed Minneapolis/St Paul and landed at around 2:45 p.m. in Toronto with about 80 people on board.
The CRJ 900, registration N932XJ, was manufactured in 2008 and was configured with 98 seats, 12 in business class and 64 in economy.
The Delta Connection aircraft was operated by Endeavor Air.
