Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss took delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 on Thursday.
The aircraft with registration HB-IHF, the first of its kind registered in the country, landed at Zurich Airport after departing from Lourdes, France, where it was prepared for delivery.
Edelweiss’ A350-900, however, is not new. It was originally delivered to LATAM Airlines in December 2019, where it flew until 2021, when it was stored in the United States.
The widebody aircraft took off again in October 2023 to Lourdes, where it remained for 10 months.

Last year, the A350 was stored in Ireland, Spain and Vietnam until it returned to Lourdes, where it was transferred to Tarbes.
Edelweiss is planning to add six A350-900s to its fleet, which will replace the five four-engine A340-300s currently in service. This process is expected to last until 2027.
Named “Piz Bernina”, after the highest mountain in the Western Alps, the A350 HB-IHF is configured with 339 seats, 30 of which are in business class and the rest in economy.

The Swiss carrier was founded in 1995 and belonged to the Kuoni Travel company until 2008, when Swiss took over the operating rights.
Today, Edelweiss is part of the Lufthansa Group and flies to tourist destinations in Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and some countries in Asia. The fleet also includes 14 first-generation Airbus A320s.
