DefenseEgypt and the United States remain engaged in negotiations over a potential sale of up to 46 Boeing F-15EX Eagle II fighter aircraft, with discussions ongoing since 2022, pointed out Tactical Report.
The proposed transaction, estimated in the multi-billion dollar range, aims to bolster Egypt’s air force capabilities and follows the cancellation of a previous contract for Russian Su-35 fighters.
The package under discussion may include aircraft, weapons, training, maintenance, and logistical support, indicating a comprehensive upgrade for Egypt’s tactical aviation assets.

Egypt currently operates around 218 F-16A/C fighters, 24 delivered Dassault Rafales, with 31 more on order, and several older platforms, highlighting ongoing efforts to diversify and update its fleet.
Recent exercises, such as ‘Eagle of Civilization 2025,’ have showcased Egypt’s interest in fifth-generation fighters, including the Chinese J-35A, while the country has also expressed interest in Turkey’s KAAN, though no contracts have been finalized.
The potential F-15 acquisition comes as Cairo seeks to ensure long-term operational readiness and maintain a balance of capabilities amid regional competition and evolving threat environments.
