Embraer has responded to the changing air travel market and decided to create a dedicated team to explore the potential of aircraft and freighter leasing.
The new team is headquartered in Amsterdam and is led by Senior Vice President Oliver Gerg, who will report to Commercial Aviation CCO Martyn Holmes.
“The creation of the Global Leasing and Freighter team is a critical step in our strategy to capitalize on opportunities in the growing cargo and leasing markets.
Oliver’s leadership, industry expertise, and deep understanding of our business make him the ideal person to lead this initiative. We are confident that, under his guidance, this team will deliver exceptional value to our customers and stakeholders,” said Holmes.

The new organization comes amid the delivery of Embraer’s first E-Freighter, an E190F from Regional Jet, a lessor based in Florida (USA).
Despite having been launched in 2022, the program to convert the E190 and E195 models to freighters has not yet gained the necessary momentum, with 50 known orders.
According to the CEO of the Commercial Aviation division, Arjan Meijer, the plan is to establish partnerships with MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) companies to carry out P2F (Passenger to Freighter) conversions.
The second-hand aircraft leasing market is booming amid delays in deliveries of new jets. This effect may have even harmed the availability of E-Jets to be converted to transport cargo.
