Singapore AirshowEmbraer said on February 4, during the Singapore Airshow, that it has advanced discussions with Thai Aviation Industries (TAI) on a potential partnership to provide local maintenance and support for the Royal Thai Armed Forces’ ERJ135 aircraft.
Under the proposal, TAI could become an authorized Embraer service center in Thailand, enabling in-country maintenance for the Royal Thai Armed Forces fleet. Embraer said the initiative could be implemented by the end of 2026.
The talks build on an existing memorandum of understanding between Embraer and TAI and are focused on supporting the operation of the ERJ135s in Thai military service through local industrial capability rather than overseas support.
“The ERJ135s continue to be a useful asset to the Thai government and we are impressed by Embraer’s growing portfolio of aircraft,” said Air Chief Marshal Piboon Vorravanpreecha, managing director of TAI. “Our partnership with Embraer demonstrates Thailand’s growing capabilities in aerospace support services.”

Thailand operates two ERJ135 aircraft with the Royal Thai Army. One is configured primarily for VIP transport, while the second performs both VIP and medical evacuation missions. The aircraft are around 17 years old and were originally acquired directly from Embraer by the Thai government.
According to Embraer, establishing local support would help sustain the fleet as it ages, reducing reliance on foreign maintenance facilities and shortening turnaround times for inspections and repairs.
“This partnership with TAI is about building long-term self-reliance and capability in Thailand’s aviation industry,” said Carlos Naufel, president and CEO of Embraer Services & Support. “By investing in local partnerships, we’re creating the foundation for deeper collaboration across our portfolio.”
Embraer added that discussions with TAI also leave room for cooperation beyond the ERJ135 program, including potential future aircraft types for Thailand’s armed forces, though no specific follow-on projects have been announced.
