The Mongolian Civil Aviation Authority has granted type certification for Embraer’s E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft, paving the way for the delivery of the first E2 jet in the country.
Although not mentioned by the manufacturer, the airline Hunnu Air is about to take delivery of one of the two E195-E2s leased by Azorra.
The aircraft, registered EI-HUN, was reportedly delivered in March, but has not yet completed the ferry flight to the Asian country’s capital, Ulaanbaatar.
“We thank the Mongolia Civil Aviation Authority for their diligent assessment and confidence in Embraer’s aircraft,” said Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer of Embraer Commercial Aviation.
“Certification paves the way for more business opportunities as we continue to expand our footprint in Mongolia.”

Embraer jets only debuted in Mongolia in 2018 when an ERJ 145 was received by Aero Mongolia.
But it was Hunnu Air, the country’s largest private airline, that really expanded its E-Jets services by leasing two E190s in 2019.
Hunnu Air expects to take delivery of the second E195-E2 in October and plans to expand its services to Hainan province, including Haikou and Sanya in China, as well as routes to Vietnam, South Korea, Japan and Uzbekistan.
Founded in 2011 and operating since 2013, Hunnu Air has previously flown larger aircraft such as two A319s between 2013 and 2014, as well as turboprops such as the Fokker 50. It currently has one ATR 42 in its fleet.
