Embraer and Mahindra Group signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement to introduce the C-390 Millennium in India during the inauguration of Embraer’s national office in New Delhi.

The agreement builds on a Memorandum of Understanding reached in February 2024 and expands collaboration to joint marketing and industrialization of the C-390 platform.

Both companies will explore opportunities for local manufacturing and maintenance activities within the Indian aerospace ecosystem.

The long-term goal is to establish India as a manufacturing hub for the C-390 Millennium, which is capable of performing cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation, and humanitarian missions.

Embraer and Mahindra are jointly competing in the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program, which seeks to procure between 40 and 80 aircraft.

The C-390 faces competition from the Lockheed Martin C-130J and Airbus A400M turboprop transports in the MTA tender.

Embraer’s new office in New Delhi will function as its operational center in India as the company develops its presence in the country’s evolving aerospace and defense sector.
