Embraer presents the E195-E2 to Air Serbia, the new operator of its jets
Air Serbia, the flag carrier of the European country, received a visit on September 17th from the E195-E2 Tech Eagle, Embraer’s demonstration aircraft.
The jet with up to 146 seats had been in Greece since last Saturday, possibly on a business visit, before landing in Belgrade.
According to Embraer, the presentation was attended by members of Air Serbia, the government and companies, and the local press.
The event takes place on the eve of the entry into service of two first-generation E195s in the Air Serbia fleet. The leased aircraft were received in August and will debut in September in a 118-seat configuration.
The carrier plans to have up to 15 of these jets in the future, which have proven to be adequate for the demand on its routes.
Air Serbia has been familiar with the E-Jets since it signed a wet-lease agreement with Marathon Airways, which was terminated earlier this year following an incident in Belgrade. The airline subsequently sought a similar agreement with Bulgaria Air for E190 models.
“We plan to gradually expand our Embraer fleet by adding a number of these aircraft. Before deciding on the E195, we closely collaborated with the Embraer team to find the aircraft type that best suits our needs. Today, in Belgrade, we had the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the latest Embraer E195-E2 and to receive all the information about this aircraft type from the company’s representatives,” said Boško Rupić, Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, Air Serbia.
“The demonstration flight provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the operational efficiency, low maintenance costs, and adaptability of our E2 family to changing market conditions, making it a perfect fit for Serbia,” said Fernando Mainardi, Vice President of Sales, Europe, Embraer Commercial Aviation.
In addition to the E-Jets, Air Serbia’s fleet also includes two Airbus A330-200s, three A320s, ten A319s and ten ATR 72 turboprops.
