Lithuania has not yet signed a contract to receive three C-390 Millennium aircraft from Embraer, but the benefits of this selection are already beginning to be seen.

According to the Brazilian manufacturer, a delegation of experts recently visited the European country to meet with potential industrial partners.

These groups have expertise in key areas such as maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), engineering, innovation, technological development, and supply chain management.

“We have met with several Lithuanian industrial organizations and have observed their expertise and capabilities,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. “We will contribute to Lithuania’s defense capabilities with the C-390 Millennium aircraft and also support the country’s industrial and technological development.”

The search for more industrial partners in Europe is already a tradition at Embraer, whose region accounts for 40% of the C-390 supply chain.

Furthermore, the multi-mission aircraft has most of its customers on the continent, some of which have established industrial cooperation, such as Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Sweden.

Lithuania is the 11th customer for the C-390 (Embraer)

In Lisbon, for example, the company created Embraer Defense Europe, which is responsible for collaboration with the European Union and NATO. This includes plans to establish C-390 training centers and deepen relationships with defense institutions throughout the region.

Embraer’s goal is to build a resilient and future-ready defense industrial base, as well as cooperation with educational and research institutions.

Lithuania became another country to select the Millennium in June. The country has a small air force, consisting of only five transport aircraft (three Leonardo C-27Js and two LET L-410s) and a few general-purpose helicopters.

However, as a member of NATO and a neighbor of Russia, the Lithuanian government has expressed concerns about its security.
