Emirates has opened a new pilot training center in Dubai, increasing its annual pilot training capacity by 54%. The facility, built with an investment of US$135 million, is designed to meet the growing training needs of the airline’s expanding fleet, including the Airbus A350 and future Boeing 777X aircraft.

Located near Emirates’ existing training facilities in Dubai, the new center covers 5,968 square meters and houses six full-flight simulator bays. Training has commenced with two full-flight simulators dedicated to the Airbus A350, with four additional simulators to be installed in the coming months.

Each simulator is capable of providing up to 7,500 hours of training per year, accommodating as many as 1,000 pilots annually. The total training capacity of Emirates will now reach 130,000 hours per year, reflecting the airline’s preparation for increased pilot demand as it introduces new aircraft models into its fleet.

The training center features integration with the Pilot Support Station (PSS), which allows for the optimization of training sessions. All training sessions are recorded, enabling performance review and improvement. Additionally, the facility utilizes 3D printing technologies, which are expected to generate annual cost savings of up to AED 1 million.

The Airbus A350 simulator has received EASA level D qualification without any discrepancies, marking the highest certification standard for flight simulators. The center also includes four classrooms for pilot courses, supporting both technical and theoretical instruction.

Emirates’ investment in pilot training infrastructure is aligned with its ongoing fleet modernization and expansion. Beyond its own personnel, the airline offers aviation training programs to employees and the wider community, contributing to industry skill development.

The new hub comes amid the arrival of new, modern widebodies. Emirates has 65 firm orders for the A350-900, of which nine aircraft are already in its fleet.

Regarding the 777X, the Dubai-based airline is its largest customer, with 205 firm orders for the 777-9, 777-8, and 777-8F variants.
