Air TransportEmirates has requested a feasibility study for the proposed ‘Boeing 777-10’, the airline announced during the Dubai Air Show.
The Dubai-based carrier is seeking higher-capacity aircraft following the cancellation of the Airbus A380 program, which left a gap in the market for efficient, high-capacity jets.
The 777-10, currently undergoing feasibility assessment, is expected to seat approximately 450 passengers in a two-class layout.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates Group chief, stated, “Emirates has been clear that we are interested in manufacturers building higher-capacity aircraft.”

Boeing, however, has not commented on the matter. The company is still struggling to certify the 777-9 variant, the first of three launched within the 777X program.
Emirates Airline, the world’s largest operator of the Airbus A380 with over a hundred aircraft, has consistently urged manufacturers to develop larger, wide-body twin-engine jets.
But Boeing and Airbus have not seemed convinced that there is global demand for such large aircraft after the low sales of the 747-8 and the A380 itself.
