Etihad plans to convert order of seven A350-100s to A350Fs
Airbus has announced another potential customer for the A350F, a new widebody cargo variant. Etihad Airways signed a Letter of Intent during the Singapore Airshow to convert seven A350-100s already on order to the freighter version.
“Etihad is delighted to extend our relationship with Airbus to include this remarkable aircraft as part of our freighter fleet for the future,” said Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Aviation Group.
“We are pleased to sign this agreement with our long standing partner Etihad, shortly before this most discerning airline also introduces A350 passenger service. Thank you Etihad for endorsing the game changing nature of the new A350F” said Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International.
Currently, Etihad Cargo owns five Boeing 777F jets in addition to using the holds of its passenger aircraft fleet to serve customers on almost every continent.
Airbus did not reveal when the A350Fs will be delivered if the deal is confirmed soon.
Also in the event, planemaker and Singapore Airlines finalized the purchase order for seven A350Fs, announced last year. The aircraft will replace Boeing 747-400Fs starting in the fourth quarter of 2025.
