Embraer held the delivery ceremony for the first E190-E2 from Scoot, a low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, on Thursday.
The aircraft is part of a nine-jet leasing agreement signed with lessor Azorra.
Scoot’s E190-E2, called “Explorer 3.0”, is the third model operated by the Singapore airline, after the Airbus A320 family and the Boeing 787.
“We are honored to be the first Singapore carrier to take delivery of this modern and fuel-efficient aircraft and the E190-E2 jets are crucial to our overall network growth strategy,” said Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer of Scoot.
“Embraer’s family of advanced-generation E-Jets are ideally suited for Scoot’s ambitions, complementing the airline’s existing narrowbody fleet with the E2’s exceptional short-runway performance to enhance regional connectivity,” added Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation.

Scoot is expected to implement a short-range flight network with its E190-E2. The aircraft’s debut in service is scheduled for May and the first flight will be to Krabi, Thailand.
The delivery of Scoot’s first E190-E2 marks a new phase in Embraer’s offensive to expand its presence in Southeast Asia.
In addition to Scoot, Malaysian airline SKS Airways is expected to receive 10 E195-E2 jets also leased by Azorra.

The Brazilian planemaker also uses the double type certification of the E190-E2 and E195-E2 in China to try to close orders in the country, which has one of the largest air travel markets in the world.
