Flybondi carrier announced on Tuesday that it has placed an order for 35 new aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, totaling approximately US$1.7 billion in investments.

The agreement includes the delivery of 15 Airbus A220-300 jets, with an option for five more, as well as 10 Boeing 737 MAX 10, also with an option for five additional units, with deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2030.

Focusing on the low-cost market, the company plans to increase its operational capacity by 230% in the next four years, consolidating the largest recent fleet expansion movement in Argentina and Paraguay.

The expansion will allow for an increase in seat offerings on domestic and international routes and enhance presence in key Latin American markets.

According to Flybondi, the investment aims not only for volume growth but also for improving customer experience and operational efficiency. Currently, the company operates with used Boeing 737-800 jets as well as some leased Airbus A320s in ACMI.

Deliveries of the A220-300 are expected between 2027 and 2029, while the 737 MAX 10 still depends on FAA certification, which puts the schedule in question.

Originally launched by Bombardier, the A220 has yet to have an operator in South America. A Uruguayan initiative may fill this gap, but the project is still under study.

The announcement comes just days after the state-owned Aerolíneas Argentinas revealed its own fleet renewal plan, including A330neo and 737 MAX jets. This movement highlights a phase of renewal and competition among the major operators in the region.

Founded in 2018, Flybondi has already transported more than 17 million passengers and employs over 1,500 people. The announced expansion reinforces the company’s ambition to consolidate its position among the leading low-cost players in South America.
