Dubai AirshowFlydubai has gone beyond expectations and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to acquire 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with an option for 75 more jets.
The announcement on Wednesday at the Dubai Airshow came the day after another MoU was signed with Airbus for up to 150 A321neo aircraft, which the company justified by its long range and capacity.
Flydubai currently operates a fleet of 96 Boeing 737 aircraft of the high-density MAX 8 and MAX 8-200 versions. The new pre-agreement, however, will allow the company to select between the 737-8, 737-9 and 737-10 variants.
This is the airline’s fourth order for the 737 MAX, which operates in the ultra-low-cost segment and serves 135 destinations.

In 2023, Flydubai made its first widebody aircraft purchase, ordering 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
“We are pleased to announce a new aircraft order agreement with Boeing. Anticipating future needs is a defining factor in the success of any airline and today’s announcement reflects our commitment to that principle,” said His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, CEO of flydubai.
“flydubai is one of the world’s first 737 MAX operators and their plan to place yet another order – their fourth order to date – reflects the 737 MAX’s market-leading value and versatility,” said Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
