Pilatus has won yet another order for its PC-7 MKX primary trainer. The French government’s Directorate General des Armaments (DGA) has announced an order for 22 aircraft to be used by the French Air and Space Force.
The turboprop aircraft will be delivered starting in 2027 and will operate alongside the PC-21s already in service with the Armée de l’Air et de l’Espace.
The agreement also includes ground-based training tools to be provided by French partners, as well as simulators, software and equipment.

“It’s a great honor to have been selected once again by our valued customer, France, and we are very proud,” said Markus Bucher, CEO of Pilatus.
The PC-7 MKXs have a high degree of commonality with the PC-21, according to Pilatus. The French Air Force has 26 PC-21s that have been based at Base Aérienne 709 in Cognac-Châteaubernard since 2018.
This is the second announcement of a sale of the PC-7 MKX after the Royal Netherlands Air Force announced the acquisition of eight aircraft in February.
