Air TransportGerman Airways will expand its fleet with one additional Embraer E190 ahead of the 2026 summer schedule, increasing capacity for ACMI and charter operations in Europe.
The aircraft, registered D-ABKE, will be based in Germany and is scheduled to enter service from June. The airline did not disclose the source of the aircraft.
With the addition, German Airways will operate a fleet of nine Embraer E190 aircraft. All are configured in a single-class layout with 100 seats.
German Airways uses the E190 as its sole aircraft type, deploying the fleet on wet-lease and charter missions across Europe. The airline said the additional aircraft will be based in its home market, supporting operational requirements for the 2026 peak travel season.

Managing director Maren Wolters said the fleet expansion supports the airline’s long-term development and operational stability in Germany. The carrier also expects the additional aircraft to create new positions across flight operations, cabin crew, and maintenance.
Most of German Airways’ E190 fleet is currently employed on ACMI flying for KLM Cityhopper, providing background capacity support within the group’s European network.
The airline is one of the longest-established operators in the German aviation market, with origins dating back to the mid-1950s. The company developed from Westdeutsche Luftwerbung (WDL), became Germany’s second licensed carrier and focused its activities on charter and wet-lease flying in Europe.
The German Airways brand was introduced in 2019, replacing the previous commercial identity while the company continued to operate in the ACMI and charter segment.
