DefenseGermany has signed a contract for 20 additional H145M light attack helicopters, bringing its total order to 82 units, according to an agreement finalized in December.
The order was placed with Airbus Helicopters and covers deliveries to the Bundeswehr and special operations forces.
The move follows parliamentary approval granted in November for the procurement of the 20 additional aircraft. The contract underscores the ongoing expansion of Germany’s rotary-wing capabilities amid evolving operational requirements.
“We are honored and proud that Germany decided to order 20 additional H145M LKH helicopters. This additional commitment from one of our home countries is a strong sign of trust in the outstanding performance and multi-mission capabilities of the H145M,” said Stefan Thomé, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters in Germany.

The first H145M LKH was delivered to Germany in November, less than a year after the initial contract signature. The Bundeswehr will receive 72 helicopters, while ten will go to the Luftwaffe’s special forces units.
H145M helicopters are configured for training, reconnaissance, special forces operations, and light attack missions. The platform can be reconfigured rapidly to meet various operational roles.
The global H145 family has accumulated over eight million flight hours, according to Airbus. Current military operators include Hungary, Serbia, Luxembourg, Thailand, Ecuador, Honduras, and Cyprus.
Recent H145M orders from other nations include 17 units for Belgium, six for Brunei, and four for Ireland. The helicopter is powered by twin Safran Arriel 2E engines with FADEC and features the Helionix digital avionics suite with a four-axis autopilot.
