Business AviationGulfstream Aerospace has completed its 100th installation of the Starlink satellite internet system, equipping a G650ER at its Alliance Service Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
The milestone comes less than a year after the company received supplemental type certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to install Starlink on select Gulfstream aircraft.
The Starlink system, developed by SpaceX, provides high-speed internet access using a network of low Earth orbit satellites. Download speeds range from 100 to 250 Mbps, and latency remains below 90 milliseconds, supporting activities such as video calls and data transfers during flight.
Gulfstream’s FAA certification initially covered the G650ER and has since expanded to include the G800, G700, G600, G500, G550, and GV models. The manufacturer is also working toward approval for additional aircraft types. Customers may select Starlink installations on new G800, G700, G600, and G500 aircraft during production, in addition to retrofitting in-service units.
The G650ER, a long-range business jet, is among Gulfstream’s flagship models, offering extended range and advanced cabin amenities. The integration of Starlink aims to meet increasing demand for reliable and high-speed inflight connectivity among business aviation operators, who require seamless communication and data access on long-haul routes.
The adoption of Starlink across Gulfstream’s fleet reflects a broader trend in business aviation toward enhanced passenger connectivity. Gulfstream expects further installations as certification for additional models progresses and as customer demand for advanced inflight connectivity continues to grow.
