General Dynamics announced that its new long-range Gulfstream G800 business jet has been awarded type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The dual approvals confirmed the aircraft’s improved performance, which can fly 8,200 nautical miles (15,186 kilometers) at a cruise speed of Mach 0.85, an increase of 200 nm/370 km over original projections.
The G800 can also fly faster, at Mach 0.90, with a shorter range of 7,000 nm (12,964 km) or Mach 0.87 with a range of 8,000 nm (14,816 km).

The aircraft’s maximum operating speed has increased to Mach 0.935 from Mach 0.925, making it one of the fastest civil aircraft in the world.
The FAA and EASA have certified the G800 with a balanced field length takeoff distance of 5,812 ft (1,771 meters) and a landing distance of 3,105 ft (946 m) at sea level, better than anticipated.
“With the certification of the G800, Gulfstream has again exceeded expectations thanks to the expertise and rigor of our flight test, certification and manufacturing teams,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream.
The G800 promises to offer a cabin altitude of just 2,840 ft (866 m) flying at 41,000 ft (12,497 m), similar to the Gulfstream G700.
The aircraft is powered by Royce Pearl 700 engines with 18,250 lb of thrust.
The G800 was launched in 2021 and first flew in June 2022. It is the replacement for the G650.
