TechnologyHeart Aerospace has postponed the first flight of its HX-1 demonstrator to early 2026, extending the schedule from a previous target of the second quarter of 2025. The company shipped the HX-1, constructed in Sweden, to the United States for its initial flight campaign, according to Flight Global.
The company attributed a prior delay to issues with the composite material used in the HX-1’s wing. Heart Aerospace has not disclosed the reason for the latest postponement and did not respond to requests for comment.
The HX-1 was dismantled in Sweden and sent to Plattsburgh, New York, after the site was selected as the base for flight testing. A new wing component is expected to arrive at the Plattsburgh test center in September.

In April, Heart Aerospace announced the closure of its Swedish operations and a corporate relocation from Gothenburg to Los Angeles, California. This move was intended to accelerate prototype development for its regional hybrid-electric aircraft programs.
The delay of the HX-1 may have a minor effect on the timeline for the HX-2, a pre-production prototype scheduled to fly in 2026.
The HX-1’s first flight is positioned as a key technological step ahead of the HX-2, which is set to become the company’s first commercial hybrid-electric aircraft.
