Air MobilityHonda says it will complete its first full scale eVTOL prototype by the end of this year, setting up an inaugural test flight in the United States in March 2026.
The announcement, made at the Dubai Airshow, marks the clearest timeline yet for a project the company has kept largely under wraps.
The aircraft uses a hybrid electric architecture designed to give it an intercity range of about 400 kilometers, a significantly longer reach than most battery only eVTOL concepts.
Early test flights will be conducted remotely in the U.S. as Honda works toward FAA type certification in the early 2030s.

Susumu Mashio, vice president and chief engineer of Honda eVTOL, said the next phase is about proving real value to customers rather than technology demonstrations alone. “We need to decide what kind of real benefit we can offer to potential customers,” he said.
Honda’s design earned a Red Dot Design Concept Award in 2023, recognized for its hybrid power unit proposal and a cabin shaped around large windows to improve passenger visibility.
The eVTOL effort fits into Honda’s broader push into new mobility sectors, including aerial transport, robotics, and space technology.
The company is already an established aerospace manufacturer through the HondaJet line, which is set to expand with a larger model now in development.
